After receiving his B.S. in Chemistry from Bucknell University, Dr. Berger went on to get his M.D. from SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. He did his fellowship in Hematology at the Roosevelt Hospital, NYC, an affiliate of Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. His post-graduate Fellowships in Hematology-Oncology was done at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. He had been on the staff of Memorial Sloan- Kettering for over 25 years. Dr. Berger has a faculty appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor with SUNY Stony Brook School of Medicine. His next book called Updated Guideline for Surviving Prostate Cancer will be available in the fall of 2003. This book was written with James Lewis, PhD, a prostate cancer patient himself to help patients through the difficult decisions they need to make at all stages of the disease. Dr. Berger has been involved in extensive research in many different malignancies and has contributed to the knowledge that led to the FDA approval of Flutamide and Strutium, which are used to treat advanced prostate cancer.
